Michael Saunders rode the Inzane bio-fuelled Laverda 650 Formula rather stylishly in a BMCRC Minitwins race at Cadwell Park in August. Michael carved through the 40 strong field of Suzukis, taking the 14 year old Laverda into 7th place before sliding off on the last corner.
Michael Saunders led more than 30 SV 650s in some style.

Inzane carried the logos of the UK's only domestic bioethanol manufacturer, British Sugar, at the Oulton Park BMCRC meeting in June. British Sugar manufactures 70 million litres of bioethanol per year at its Wissington Factory in Norfolk . Proving that the fuel is an excellent fuel component as well as being cleaner and greener than fossil fuel, Russ Joyner delivered a close fought second and a third in the minitwins.
Russ passes Adam Molloy for second place in race one. Click for more pictures.

24th April 2009 saw the second Alternative Energy Drag Racing Event at Santa Pod. While Russ's UK e85 standing quarter record (10.86s) from last year was well beaten by Adam Child from MCN running a Kawasaki ZZR1400, the team Inzane Bikes ran against each other in a biofuel minitwins only drag race. Adam Palfreman put in the fastest time on the team's Ducati 800ss at 12.152s (113.11mph) with the Laverda 650 only slightly behind with a very respectable 12.191s (111.16mph).
Whilst the MCN bike is undoubtedly the fastest road bike available, running it on e85 pump fuel (and yes, it is cheaper than petrol) gave it sufficient extra power to put it "into the 10s" with a run of 9.9509s (145.22mph) which is the first time a showroom bike has run sub 10s in the UK!
Ian Calvert (Laverda 650) and Adam Palfreman (Ducati 800SS) burning... vegetables!

....but it was close! Russ Joyner finished fourth in the first Minitwins race at Brands Hatch, putting him on the front row for the second race which turned out to be the closest race of the meeting. Glynn Davies and Dan Hopkins battled for first place throughout the race, with Glynn finally pipping Dan at the finish by less than 0.1s. Unfortunately for Glynn, Russ had slipstreamed him out of Clearways, crossing the line 0.04s ahead to take a memorable win!

A windswept and rain-lashed Snetterton meant that Russ, the bio Ducati and the team's championship aspirations all took a real battering with a couple of crashes and no points on Saturday. Lots of graft, glass fibre and gaffer tape got us back out on Sunday with Russ coaxing the bike round for an 8th and a 5th.

Can we get it sorted for the Brands Centenary meeting on April 18th or will the Laverda be back......?
